John Howard Dickerson

John Howard Dickerson, 84 of Floyd, born Dec. 14, 1924, the son of the late John C. and Eva M. Dickerson, was called home to heaven on April 27, 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 + years Wanda Blankenship Dickerson. Son & daughter-in-law Richard & Debbie Dickerson, five daughters & sons-in-law Belinda & Early Alderman, Nana & Iven Miller, Judy Dickerson, Wanda Mae & Vergil Hale, Deborah Dickerson. Also survived by 10 grandchildren: Mickey, Barry, Angela, Teresa, April, Angie, Robert, Kevin, Daniel Alaina and 9 great grandchildren with the 10th to be born June 2009, three Brothers George, Bill, and Roy, and four sisters Maxine, Thelma, Ruby and Gloria Mae and special friend Freddie Pugh.

John served in WWII in Pearl Harbor. He gave his live to Christ many years ago and was a long time member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren. His Lord opened his arms and carried John home, after a long battle with Diabetes; he will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to thank Skyline Manor for all the loving care they provided to John.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 30, 2009 at Maberry Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Interment to follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday April 29, 2009 at the funeral home.
