
Imogene Akers Quesenberry
Imogene Ernest Akers Quesenberry, 93 of Willis, went to heaven to be with her husband of 66 years on Monday June 14, 2010. She was born September 28, 1916 in Indian Valley to the late Kyle & Nora Alice Phillips Akers. She was a wonderful cook & loved family gatherings. She was a master hand quilter. She truly was a faithful, hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She always had a sweet smile for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Quesenberry, grandson, Darin Quesenberry, one sister, Marie Akers Wade, three brothers, Kermit, Walter, & Alva Klemon Akers.
She is survived by two daughters & son-in-law Janice Quesenberry of the home, Larrene and Kyle Bowman of Willis, Two sons & daughters-in-law. Bennie & Margie Quesenberry of Hillsville, Danny & Gail Quesenberry, of Dublin. Four Grandchildren, Jeffery Phillips & Wife Norris of Carrboro, NC, Angela Q. Brown & husband Herb of Fleetwood, NC, Amy Quesenberry of Roanoke, Sharon Quesenberry of Dublin, Two step grandchildren, Kelly & Keith Ferrell. Five great grandchildren, Alexa & Cole Phillips, Ben, David, & Allison Brown. Two brothers & wives, James & Virginia Akers, Troy & Sylvia Akers, both of Radford; Four Sisters & husbands, Edith Sutphin, Velva & Harrison Long both of Radford, Mary Alice Buckner of Snowvillle, Reva & Lewis Martin of Christiansburg, VA; Loving Caregiver, Carmen Vasquez, and Janice’s caregivers; Brittany Cox and Megan Gates.
The funeral service will be held on 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 16, 2010 at Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Kenneth Hopkins, and Elder Tommy Pegram officiating. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday June 15, 2010 at the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
