Kate Ruth Weddle Ratliff

Kate Ruth Weddle Ratliff, 101 of Floyd, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 5, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Ratliff; her parents, Abner & Cora Weddle; one sister, Pernie Weddle; three brothers, Claude Weddle, Newton Weddle, and Isaac Weddle.

Surviving to treasure her precious memories are her son, Wayne Ratliff of Roanoke and her daughter and son-in-law, Dove and David Robertson of Christiansburg. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jimmy and Deanna Robertson of Christiansburg, and Chrystal and Jeff Havens of Roanoke. Kate leaves five great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Brendan and Camden Robertson and Brooke, Ryan, and soon to come baby Havens.

Kate was an active member of Topeco Church of the Brethren for 89 years and taught Sunday School for 30 years. Also, she was appointed deaconess in 1942. Kate loved working on church history and wrote a book on the Weddle History. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. Kate was a devoted wife and mother, and a wonderful friend to many.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Topeco Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mike Varner officiating. Interment to follow at the Weddle Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Special thanks to Skyline Manor Nursing and Rehab in Floyd for their excellent care of our mother. Also, we appreciate New River Valley Medical Center in Radford for all their kindness and care of Mom. We also wish to thank the Topeco Church family for their many cards and visits.
