Edith Cox Spence

Edith Cox Spence, 95 of Dugspur, went Home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 9, 2012. She was one of twelve children born February 27, 1917 to the late Sam & Nancy Cox of Floyd County. She was a devoted member of the Pine View Primitive Baptist Church for many years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Everette Spence.

Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, Gene & Sharron Spence of Dugspur; daughter & son-in-law, Wanda & Robert Warner of Vinton; granddaughters, Cara Sammons & husband Joe, Debbie Cooney & husband Tom; great-grandsons, Adam & Cameron Sammons, Nick & Aiden Cooney; sister, Irene Cock of Dugspur; brothers, Proffit Cox of Maryland Heights, MO, and Lawrence Cox of Banning, Calif; special “brother” nephew, Howard Cox of Ormond Beach, FL.; special nieces, Bobbie Ann Turman & Linda Goad, many more nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to the staff at Laurel Meadows for their kindness and loving care. The family would like to express to Elder Tim McGrady great appreciation for his continued support and prayers.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Tim McGrady and Elder Dan Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at Pine View Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
