
Pauline R. Hylton
Pauline R. Hylton, age 83, of Willis, died suddenly Monday, May 28, 2012, while visiting her daughter in Palo Alto, California.
“Mrs. Hylton” as she was known to generations of children taught in Floyd County schools from ages 18 to 62. Following retirement, she served as a Sunday school teacher at the Willis United Methodist Church, volunteered for the church, and assisted with local educational projects.
Pauline actively participated in life: playing high school basketball, organizing credentialing for Willis Elementary, reading biographies, following current events and visiting all 50 states as well as several other countries.
Pauline was preceded in death by her adoring husband Vasco Hylton. She is survived by her daughter, Gale Hylton, M.D. of Palo Alto, Calif., Catherine Ross Phillips Whitley and Matthew Phillips who are considered family, the community of Willis and her educational legacy.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Maberry Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
