
Ossie Marie Pettry Cox
Ossie Marie Pettry Cox, age 82, of Indian Valley passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2008. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her family. She was well known for her homemade fried apple pies. She was married to Cline Cox who preceded her in death in 2006. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Ossie is survived by her daughter Sue Camden and son-in-law Dan (Roanoke), her son Roger and daughter in-law Faye (Indian Valley); grandchildren Eric and Meagan Waren ( Matthews, NC), Matthew and Amanda Cox (Tega Cay, SC) Dawn Farrell (Salem), great-grandchildren; Elliott, Alex and Chacey Cox, Hannah and Thomas Farrell, sister and brother-in-law Pauline and Hanford Goad, Eugenia and Ken Hall, sister-in-law Nobie Rorick, Addie Pettry, Cecilia Pettry, and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by brothers Willie, Maltbie, Roy, Harry, and Larry Pettry, sisters Imogene Reese, Guida Roop, and Bertie Anderson, and a brother and sister who died in infancy.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, with Rev. Kenneth Poston and Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Cox Cemetery in Dugspur. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday October 1, 2008 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 125 Arrowhead Trail, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The family would also like the Judy Bryant and all of the caretakers at Oak Haven and Skyline Manor of Floyd for the wonderful care they gave her.
